Curriculum Overview
At Oswayo Valley School District, we are committed to providing every student with a rigorous, well-rounded education aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards. Our curriculum is thoughtfully reviewed by district staff and approved by the Board of School Directors to ensure all instructional resources support student learning before being added to the program of studies.
Elementary School (Grades K–6)
Mathematics
Primary Resource: GO Math! Scope & Sequence
Fully aligned to the PA Core Standards for Mathematics, GO Math! builds strong problem-solving, reasoning, and fluency skills. In addition to GO Math!, the district utlizes a few supplemental math programs for specific skill practice, including: Rocket Math, Formative Loop, & Study Island.
English Language Arts (ELA)
Primary Resource: Wonders Scope & Sequence
Wonders is a research-based literacy program aligned to the PA Core Standards for reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In addition to Wonders as the primary reading program, the district utilizes the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness program in K-2 and the 95% Group Phonics Program in K-3.
Science & Social Studies
While GO Math! and Wonders are our primary resources, teachers select supplemental materials to enhance learning—especially in science (aligned to the PA STEELS Standards) and history/social studies—ensuring a rich, well-rounded experience.
High School (Grades 9–12)

Ongoing Review & Improvement
The district maintains an ongoing process for evaluating and updating its curriculum to meet the evolving needs of all learners. On an annual basis, teachers, the guidance counselor, and the principal review course offerings and sequencing to determine necessary additions or revisions. The updated course catalog is subsequently reviewed and approved by the Board of Education.
