Congratulations to Oswayo Valley’s Director of Activities, Mr. Bill Howard, who was recently inducted into the Big 30 Basketball Hall of Fame! Pictured below is Mr. Howard receiving his Hall of Fame plaque from Big 30 Board Member Jamie Evens at the induction ceremony held on Sunday, March 24 at Portville Central School.
Mr. Howard was inducted into the Big 30 Hall of Fame along with two other longtime basketball officials, Bud Brennan from Ridgway, PA and Ken Woodruff from Olean, NY. Mr. Howard is completing his 53rd and final year as a basketball official in Pennsylvania, but will continue on as a volleyball and track and field official.
Mr. Howard officiated the P.I.A.A. boys Class A basketball championships in 1991 and was chosen to officiate the New York State Championship in 2005. In addition, he officiated the Region III Junior College National Championship games in 2006 and 2007. He is one of 12 officials in the state of Pennsylvania to be chosen as a District Basketball Rules Interpreter.
